Booking your exchange home has never been so easy.

Everything ready from your country. Book in a single click.

How it works

Three steps. That's it

You book from home, you arrive at your future place with everything ready, you settle in. No parallel formalities, no paperwork, all the info upfront.

📅

You book

You choose your property, fill out a short introduction and book online. The property is held for you while the owner reviews your request.

🛬

You arrive

You declare your arrival date and sign the contract online. On the agreed day, the owner hands over the keys and a property condition inventory.

🏡

You settle in

You pay the monthly rent through the platform. If a problem comes up, you contact us and we mediate. At the end of the semester, we handle the return of your deposit.

How we work

Before a property goes live

Every property goes through these three steps before appearing on the platform.

01

Owner identity and title

  • Owner ID document
  • Property title or management mandate
  • Legal authority to rent
02

Property condition and description

  • Consistency between photos, description and amenities
  • Furniture, services and rules clear from the listing
  • Owner declaration on habitability
03

Contract drafted by Flatmaters

  • Bilingual Rental Agreement drafted by us
  • Rent paid through Flatmaters, not to the owner
  • Neutral escrow of the deposit throughout the semester
Frequent questions

The most common doubts

If you can't find your answer, write to us at contact@flatmaters.com.

How is Flatmaters different from Facebook groups?
On Facebook you see listings nobody has verified: no way to know if the owner exists, if the place looks like the photos, or if you'll sign a contract that protects you. At Flatmaters we verify the owner's identity and property title, and we draft the rental contract ourselves, from a standardized framework designed to protect students. You never sign blind.
How far in advance should I book?
As early as possible, ideally 2 or 3 months before your arrival. The earlier you book, the more options you have: the best places go fast.
Which cities do you cover?
We're currently active in Santiago, Valparaíso, Viña del Mar and Buenos Aires. In Santiago and Buenos Aires we cover every neighborhood, as long as the property and the owner pass our verification.
Can I pay rent from my country?
Yes. You pay your rent directly to Flatmaters, from a European, Chilean, Argentinian or international account. We handle the conversion and the transfer. No need to open a Chilean or Argentinian bank account to pay your rent — a real help when arriving from abroad.
